Aspirus Ironwood’s Senior Wellness Program Welcomes New Therapist and Unit Clerk

(Ironwood, MI) The Senior Wellness Program at Aspirus Ironwood recently welcomed their new travel therapist, Gina Feistel, and new Unit Clerk, Jody Luoma.


Gina Feistel brings a wealth of experience and a compassionate approach to her role as a therapist in Aspirus Ironwood's Senior Wellness Program. With a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Michigan and nearly two decades in the mental health field, Gina is accredited and licensed, showcasing her dedication to providing high-quality care. Her professional journey has included roles as a clinician, business office manager in long-term care, and director of a skill-building resource center for individuals with cognitive disabilities.


Gina's extensive background extends to managing behaviors in challenging environments, having worked with inmates at the Michigan Department of Corrections. Additionally, she has provided Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services as part of individuals' benefits for an insurance company. Her commitment to continuous learning is evident in her attainment of a Doctor in Health Administration (DHA) degree from Central Michigan University. Beyond her professional endeavors, Gina finds joy in her two rescued dogs, a Brussels Griffon and a Chihuahua, dedicating her free time to their well-being, along with indulging in outdoor activities like hiking and kayaking. She also nurtures a passion for nutrition, frequently advocating for its importance. Gina's multifaceted interests extend to art fairs, ballroom and swing dancing, and an active involvement in local politics as a Delegate of her Precinct in Waterford, Michigan. Originally hailing from East Germany, Gina's own journey of adaptation and healing informs her empathetic approach to helping others navigate life's transitions. She holds a special affinity for working with older adults, cherishing the wisdom they bring to the therapeutic process. With Gina, patients can expect a dedicated partner in their journey towards healing and self-discovery.


Jody Luoma recently joined the Senior Wellness Program at Aspirus Ironwood. Jody has been a CNA since 2017. She also recently became BLS Certified so that she can better help her patients during a medical crisis. Along with her position in the Senior Wellness Program, Jody also works in the Emergency Department and Medical/Surgical floor of Aspirus Ironwood. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in treating the elderly. Her energy, compassion and willingness to help will surely be a great asset to the program. She is excited to join the Senior Wellness team and looks forward to helping seniors in her community receive the care they need.
