Spring has sprung at New Beginnings in Massac Memorial Hospital. We are always trying to find ways to improve upon our services, the staff asked their patients what could make the IOP better. All of the patients agreed they love to come into the department because the decorations make them feel comfortable and relaxed. They look forward to seeing the different décor each holiday and season. They also asked about changing the patient menu to add a variety of meals. New Beginnings staff met with dietary staff and patients are now allowed to eat from the cafeteria menu instead of the patient menu. All of the patients are thrilled and the kitchen staff too with less meal prep to do. While staff was looking for the one “big thing” we could change for our patients, it never occurred to us patient satisfaction might be in the “ little things”!
