Marketing Success

New Beginnings at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis Illinois, continues to find unique ways to market their program, and the success is apparent. This program hosts monthly lunch & learns for the community, kicking off in May to coincide with Mental Health Month. Dr. Patel, a hospital board member who provides frequent referrals, spoke first on the topic of Hypertension. Over 40 community members and hospital employees were in attendance. The hospital cafeteria pr

ovided a delicious box lunch. In July, Dr. Bajuyo spoke about Diabetes with equal success. Additional lunch & learns are scheduled in coming months with more physicians eager to be involved. The success of this effort is due in part to, CEO, Rick Goins, who remains committed to recruiting physicians involvement and the overall success of the New Beginnings program.

The Lunch & Learns were marketed through flyers distributed throughout Metropolis and nearby towns. The chamber of commerce assisted by distributing the flyers to local businesses. The local AM radio station broadcast a brief announcement four times each day leading up to an event. After hearing the radio advertisement, several people called to sign up. In addition, program director, Kim Abell, contributed to a live radio show called Coffee Break, whose target audience is the elderly in Massac County. She was able to discuss the New Beginnings program and all of it's offerings.
