Salem Township Hospital, IL- New Beginnings Program

The New Beginnings Program at Salem Township Hospital is spreading Christmas Cheer this year!!!

Our program started an “adoption tree” last year which was so well received we are continuing the tradition. Each of the patients in our program filled out a confidential Christmas "wish list" which we decorated as ornaments on our department Christmas tree. Hospital employees and other departments were encouraged to adopt a New Beginnings patient by picking an ornament from the tree. We are happy to say that all of our patients have been adopted shortly after our announcement! The response has been overwhelming and wonderfully caring towards our patients. We feel that this is an important activity in order to create awareness of the New Beginnings Program within the hospital and also most importantly, to spread cheer and compassion to our patients since many are lonely with limited family involvement and experiencing increased challenges due to the ongoing pandemic.

We would like to wish everyone safe Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! And please remember these fine words of wisdom:

The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear! - Buddy the Elf
