Horizon Health in Paris, Illinois has built a valuable bridge with the local school system. The Senior Care program, along with the rest of the hospital, donates school supplies and organizes volunteers for tutoring and reading programs. Recently, a group of school counselors, teachers and principals accepted an invitation to visit Horizon Health to see the crisis behavioral health program. While they were there, they also asked to see the Senior Care program. Many were already aware of the program through community participants. We were thrilled to learn that following the visit, an email blast was shared throughout the school system that included a referral to our program. You never know where a great referral will come from, but building relationships everywhere is always important.
