Everyone has been affected by COVID-19, but for those living in a nursing facility, the impact has been great. Residents are restricted from seeing their family and friends living outside the facility. But what most don’t realize is that they may be required to stay in their rooms and may not even get to be social within the facility. For many, the isolation has increased depression and anxiety.
When the pandemic began, the therapists at Senior Perspectives began providing individual Zoom sessions. Group sessions soon developed which met the increased need for therapy, but also for socialization. “I feel like I am right there with everyone,” said a recent zoom participant.
Both the on-site group members as well as those in the nursing home are loving it!
