The Art of the Elevator Pitch

Time is a precious commodity for everyone in the healthcare industry. Executives, providers, and other positions in healthcare often have their days, weeks and months, scheduled out almost to the minute. This makes sales/marketing efforts even more challenging trying to work around busy schedules. That is why the Elevator Pitch is so important in promoting your program.

An Elevator Pitch is a brief 60 second or shorter description of who you are, what you do, and how you can help. Elevator Pitches are not meant to dive into specific details of the services you provide but rather give a general overview of your services and appeal to the person you are speaking with. These Elevator Pitches can also be specific to the type of person you are speaking with. For instance, when speaking to a physician your Elevator Pitch might include the benefit of having a psychiatrist assist with medication management. While an Elevator Pitch to a therapist might focus a little more on the difference in intensity between IOP and Outpatient therapy. In each of these situations, you are appealing to the person you are speaking with through their specialty.

These brief interactions can lead to longer, deeper conversations about your program and potentially lead to future referrals. There is an art to creating a Perfect Elevator Pitch, so you will need to practice.

Do you have your Elevator Pitch(es) ready?
